What is a Logo Sting? How a Simple 3D Animation Trick Can Help Elevate Your Brand

In today’s overwhelming digital landscape avalanche, brand identity is everything. From your website to your social media presence, every touchpoint plays a role in shaping how your audience perceives your brand, and helping it stand out in a crowd. A clean, unified brand identity isn’t just a design preference – it’s the cornerstone of a successful business. One of the most effective ways to reinforce your brand visually is by using a logo sting – a simple yet powerful animation that can make your content more professional, engaging, and memorable.

What is a Logo Sting, and Why Should You Create One?

A logo sting is a short, animated sequence that showcases your company’s logo in a visually appealing way. Think of it as a brief introduction or a signature that can be placed at the beginning or end of your videos. This animation often includes dynamic motion graphics, sound effects, and sometimes music, making your brand’s presence more polished and recognizable.

Ever watched an ad? It’s the logo at the end. But next time, pay attention to exactly how that logo is presented. Pretty satisfying, no?

So – why should you invest in a logo sting? Here are a few compelling reasons:

  • Professionalism – A sleek logo sting immediately sets your brand apart as high-quality and well-established.

  • Brand Recognition – The more consistently people see your logo in an engaging format, the more memorable your brand becomes.

  • Increased Engagement – Motion graphics help capture attention quickly, keeping viewers interested from the first frame.

  • Versatility – A logo sting can be used across multiple platforms, from YouTube videos to corporate presentations and social media clips.

  • Ease of Creation – It’s actually easier to create than you might think! While a fully custom logo animation may be outside the realm of reasonable investments for many businesses, creating your own logo sting from a template is a great way to achieve a similar result for a fraction of the cost.

How to Create a Logo Sting (and What Tools You’ll Need)

Creating a logo sting doesn’t require an entire animation studio. With the right tools and resources, you can craft a high-quality animation that aligns with your brand’s aesthetic. Here’s how:

Step 1: Choose a Logo Sting Template

Rather than creating an animation from scratch, a great starting point is to use a .mogrt (Motion Graphics Template) file from a site like Artlist, Motion Array, or Envato Elements (our go-to for all of our graphics, stock footage, music, and sound effects). These pre-made templates provide professionally designed motion graphics that can be customized to fit your brand’s identity. You’ll need to sign up for an account, but the cost pales in comparison to that of a fully custom animation.

*Be sure to check that the template you use is in .mogrt format. Some templates are actually sequences rather than .mogrt files – this method is totally fine, but we prefer working with .mogrts.

Step 2: Use Editing Software Like Adobe Premiere Pro

Once you’ve downloaded your template, open it up in Adobe Premiere Pro, which is one of the industry’s leading video editing platforms (and our editing software of choice. Premiere allows you to import your .mogrt file, edit it with your brand’s colors, fonts, and logo, and fine-tune the motion graphics for a custom look.

*Be forewarned: rendering .mogrt files can be a lengthy process, depending on the processing power of your computer. Technically, Premiere Pro compatible .mogrt files are a collection of AfterEffects compositions, which can result in MASSIVE file sizes and slow rendering times.

Step 3: Export and Integrate Into Your Content

Because .mogrt files can be slow to render, we recommend exporting your logo sting and re-importing it into your project afterward. Once you’ve perfected your animation, export your logo sting as an MP4. From here, you can easily integrate it into back into your video content.

Step 4: Add Sound Effects and Music

Sound plays a crucial role in making your logo sting stand out. Some templates come with built-in sound effects, but you can also add custom audio from royalty-free libraries like Envato, Artlist, Epidemic Sound, or AudioJungle to enhance the impact.
